Soulshine Supports the Community
Since we started building Soulshine in 2008 we have always recognized that we are guests in Bali and so part of our mission here has been to support the community in which our staff lives and that we are grateful and humbled to be a part of. We have committed 3% of our profits to maternal/neonatal health, environmental protection and cultural preservation.
Sustainability
Our dedication lies in fostering sustainability across every aspect of life. We are committed to preserving and valuing cultural heritage while promoting ideas of communal sustainability. Our main focus is on implementing sustainable practices and using locally sourced methods, an ensuring that true impact making sustainability practices are integral part of how we operate. This can be seen by our no plastic commitments, reduction of fresh water usage, protecting the 700 year old rice fields that surround the property.
Bumi Sehat Natural Birthing Center
The land that Soulshine is on used to have an old Balinese home that was the original home birthing place for 2011 CNN hero of the year Ibu Robin Lim who became the founder of Bumi Sehat Natural Birthing Center, which provides free birthing and medical services to anyone who needs them. Soulshine and Michael and Sara Franti have always helped to fund the birthing center, purchasing the land for their new hospital, sending their midwives to disaster zones around the world, and most recently racing the funds through Soulrocker retreats for a new clinic Ambulance on the island of Lombok. We arrange for our guests to visit to the clinic and they have been incredibly generous over the years bringing supplies and making cash donations.
Cultural Preservation
We support our community of Bangkilesan in the village Mas in a variety of cultural activities like sponsoring the first ever Mas Village Festival, prioritizing work and employment opportunities for the members of this community, and working together on environmental initiatives like the Plastic for Rice Exchange. These collaboration enriches the experience for both guests and the families in our community, fostering a vibrant and sustainable community relationship.
